Richmond County deputies received a tip about a Glenn Hills High School teacher having marijuana on school grounds and passed it on to school police, officials said Monday.
Chris Gordon was charged Friday with misdemeanor possession after authorities found less than an ounce of marijuana in his vehicle, according to Richmond County jail records.
Gordon, 30, of Grovetown, was arrested on school grounds, Richmond County Director of School Safety Alfonzo Williams said.
“The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received intelligence (Friday) about (Gordon) possibly having drugs in his vehicle,” Williams said. “The sheriff’s office then passed their intelligence over to school safety and we handled it.”
Williams did not say who provided the intelligence.
The investigation is ongoing and no decision has been made on Gordon’s employment, Williams said.
