Shoplifting suspect found in trash bin

NORTH AUGUSTA — A shoplifting suspect led officers on a chase Tuesday before he was found hiding in a trash bin.

According to an incident report, North Augusta Public Safety officers were called to Walmart about 1:40 p.m. after a man fled the store without paying for four razor cartridges.

Officers stopped a blue Ford Thunderbird for a traffic violation near Burger King. Authorities said a man matching the shoplifter’s desciption opened the passenger door and fled to Computer Express. Officers chased the man, later identified as Chazarra Lindsey, 24, of Augusta, through the front door of the business and out the back door, where they lost sight of him.

Lindsey was later found hiding in a trash bin on the property.

He was charged with shoplifting and failure to obey a lawful order by a traffic officer.

The vehicle’s driver, David Sipp, 21, of Blythe, was charged with shoplifting and reckless driving.
