Teen charged in YDC homicide doesn't show up at bond hearing

A teenager accused of murder at the Youth Detention Facility did not appear for a bond hearing today.

Assistant District Attorney Kimberly Easterling said she wasn’t sure why Michael Everidge, 17, wasn’t present and court security staff had no reason, either.

Keiondra Everidge said outside the courtroom that she has received no information from the Department of Juvenile Justice about the circumstances around her son’s murder charge. She received a “hysterical” phone call from her son last Thursday saying he was being charged with murder, but he had to hang up after four or five minutes, she said.

Everidge immediately went over to the detention facility on Mike Padgett Highway, but said she was told her son wasn’t there and that corrections staff wouldn’t tell her where he was. She hasn’t spoken to her son since last week.

“I don’t have any answers,” said Everidge. “But I would certainly like some.”
