Beech Island man charged with trafficking cocaine in North Augusta

A Beech Island man was charged with trafficking cocaine after a North Augusta police officer found eight bags of cocaine and a bag of marijuana in his vehicle, according to a North Augusta Public Safety incident report.

Robert Lee Green, 37, of the 600 block of Old Trail Road, was stopped while driving his white Cadillac near LeCompte Avenue about noon Tuesday. Officers were told to be on the lookout for Green after Nadine Morency, of the same address, told North Augusta dispatch that Green left the O’Reilly Auto Parts store on Knox Avenue. Morency said the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office had an outstanding warrant for Green.

The arresting officer confirmed the warrant after pulling the Cadillac over and identifying Green. The officer smelled marijuana in the car and noticed small pieces of marijuana on Green’s shirt.

After searching Green and the vehicle, 12.5 grams of cocaine and $3,692.58 were found. He was charged Wednesday with trafficking cocaine, 10 grams or more but less than 28 grams, first offense.
