Call comes for Fellows to move up

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. --- A week after winning the Nationwide Series race at Montreal, Canadian Ron Fellows will try to continue his success in today's Sprint Cup race.

He will drive the No. 01 Chevrolet for Dale Earnhardt Inc. in place of Regan Smith .

"That's why we're here," Fellows said. "Somebody's got to win it and it might as well be us. We've got a decent car. You're always rolling the dice and we saw that the stars got aligned for us last weekend. See if we can do it two weeks in a row."

A week ago Fellows drove for JR Motorsports, a team owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Fellows didn't compete in Saturday's Nationwide race at Watkins Glen because Earnhardt wanted to race the car himself to gain experience for today's main event.

"Personally it's just satisfying," Fellows said. "This is a new race and even tougher competition, more difficult circumstances. It's going to be tough for sure. You're only as good as your last race anyway."

IT'S A DEAL: Boris Said drove a hard bargain when he was asked to drive for Petty Enterprises in today's Centurion Boats at the Glen -- a signed cowboy hat from Richard Petty .

When rain washed out qualifying on Friday, Said's team was sent home without running a lap. Before the accomplished road-racer could leave, the Pettys asked him to replace Kyle Petty in the No. 45 Dodge.

"It's just a real honor to race for the Pettys. I never thought that I would be able to drive for The King, so I jumped at the opportunity," Said said.
