The entire stimulus thing is a giant con job by government. Apparently, minority firms got only 1.7 percent of $46 billion. That's a lousy percentage, but it's still over $780 million - hardly chicken feed. Don't all those recipients realize that by taking government money they just get themselves trapped more and more by Big Brother? You take a handout and soon government owns you.
Vice President Joe Biden is in the Middle East trying to make peace. The Muslims will never make an honest peace; check their record. If the U.S. does not want peace, it sent the right guy.
Headline: "Schools absorb lunch costs for now." The only money schools have is taxpayer money, thus the "schools" absorb zip, nada, not a nickel. Richmond County schools, in January alone, handed out 249,450 free or discount breakfasts. And that's just breakfasts, certainly a meal parents should furnish.
I am amazed that 75 percent of school attendees in Richmond County are entitled to free school meals. How many of the middle school and high school students have a cell phone? I also would like to know how many of the parents consume alcoholic beverages, smoke and consume meals at restaurants but cannot afford to purchase bread, sandwich spreads or sliced lunch meats so these unfed can brown bag to school. Remember there is no state or federal free giveaway programs; you the taxpayer pay for these handouts.
Story about the Oscars raves about dresses that will save the environment. How? They're made of "sustainable material." They're made of "peace silk." Laughable politically correct.
Well, I am really excited that dirt bike riders have "35 miles of trails" at one park and the prospect of 27 more at another. Just wondered when the road bike riders will have such a system? We bought a house in Martinez eight years ago, and the real estate agent told us that the bike path on Evans to Locks Road was going to be extended to the public library, but so far that has not happened. Hope it does before I am too old to ride.
It's obvious that the ignorant anti-Obama basher was too desperate to have something in print against Obama when he can't think of anything truthfully negative. Too bad this paper was so desperate as well. Well, Bush and his wealthy cronies started all this mess years ago, and they still shoulder the blame.
Georgia politicians, stop playing games; cut government, cut spending, cut taxes. It's as simple as that. If a few voters are too stupid to see what's sensible, they'll vote against you. Fine! You don't own your precious seats and fame.
