LOOKS LIKE some Georgia politicians want to bring gun rights more in line with what the Founders wrote in the Constitution. The Constitution says government has no right to stop carrying except for those who have forfeited their rights, e.g., convicted felons. Remember Kennesaw, Ga., and its drop in crime after they voted in a local law to require each house to have a gun?
CAN ANYONE explain why gas prices go up 8 to 12 cents and come down 2 to 5 cents? Where is the logic in this, and why do gas prices go up in a couple of days and come down in a couple of weeks?
OBAMA SAYS heads will roll over security failures that allowed a would-be bomber on a plane. Obama wants to fire everybody but the guilty party, himself. It's like a fumble-fisted quarterback wanting to fire the line.
WHAT GIVES some parents the right to play bartender to underage drinkers? Do they not understand that they are committing a crime? Trying to justify their actions by boasting about how they are introducing the children to the correct way to socialize. No. They are, however, teaching them how to evade the law.
THE MAYOR'S economic forecast includes "much to look forward to." Then he lists various multimillion dollar projects that Augusta can't afford and doesn't need.
RANTER RANTS AGAINST employers who didn't give year-end bonuses. Clearly, the ranter doesn't realize that a bonus is extra pay for an extra good job by the worker. Besides, if this guy is so upset, there's an easy solution. Quit that job he doesn't like and either go find a different job, or better, start his own business, where he can be the boss and learn how the world really operates.
RANT TO THE CHRONICLE for not printing my rant about the parents who throw their cigarette butts all over Brookfield Park. Even in the play areas -- it's covered with them. You are a bunch of nasty inconsiderate people and bad examples for your kids.
THE NEW MURALS on the water department building on Highland Avenue do not look as attractive as the gang-painted graffiti and art on the warehouses that I have seen on a MARTA route in Atlanta. I have to pass these ugly paintings on Highland Avenue twice a day -- going to and returning from work.
