Empty Stocking Fund: Brain surgery leaves Blythe family needing help

A Blythe family is in need after its major breadwinner underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor.

"We don't know if he will ever be able to work again," his wife writes.

"I am disabled and receiving Social Security and we have custody of our grandchildren.

"We are asking for Christmas assistance for the children: ages 15, 13, 10, 9 and 8 years old.

"Thanking you in advance for anything you can do for our grandchildren."

The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as these for 79 years.

Last year, the charity raised a record-breaking $124,000 that helped children and families across the region.
