I AM SO SICK and tired of the "holier than thou," Bible- carrying, -quoting Southern politicians such as Newt Gingrich, John Edwards and now Gov. Mark Sanford having affairs and then going to the media to apologize as "penance."
YES, SANFORD needs to resign. He has breached the trust of his wife, his boys and his state. He needs to humbly beg his wife's forgiveness, and he needs to focus all of his attention on attempting to rebuild their marriage.
AND SO IT BEGINS. The same members of the media that found it all right to excuse Bill Clinton his indiscretions will now vilify Mark Sanford 10 times over. What a bunch of hypocrites.
NOW THAT SANFORD came clean after calling for Bill Clinton's resignation years before, after misleading all of us by saying he was hiking when indeed he was out of the country, as a Republican I am truly worried. Sanford's announcement came a day after another prominent Republican, Sen. John Ensign of Nevada, apologized to his GOP Senate colleagues for an affair with a campaign staffer.
WE (SOUTH CAROLINA) are last in education, last in technology, and we wonder why the country laughs at us. Our governor is spending our tax money wining and dining some South American girl when we are in the middle of a recession.
A RANT TO all the naysayers and failure hopers. Rid yourself of the hate and rancor; it hurts you worse.
OUR JUDICIAL SYSTEM is broken. Too many low life thugs are walking the streets but they need to be doing hard labor in a prison camp.
ONLINE COMMENT wants driver's ed put back into the schools. What ever happened to parents teaching their own kids?
WHAT IS BLACK, white and quick to jump to racist conclusions? The citizens that read this newspaper. I'm so sick of everything being blamed on race. I was reading the article about the number of AIDs and HIV positive members of the surrounding counties being among the highest in the state when I decided out of curiosity to read some of the comments. It amazed me. I've lived in seven different states and three countries since the age of 17 (I'm now 28) and have never seen so many angry and racist people.
LOVE THE NEW format for the Chronicle online site. Very clean and easy to read.
A RANT TO The Augusta Chronicle about the new online layout!
FOR ALL OF YOU who are apparently incapable of reading numbers, the speed limit on the 13th Street Bridge is thirty-five. I am pretty sure speed limits are actual laws, not mere suggestions.
