Richmond County Superintendent Dana Bedden will recommend several personnel changes in a special called school board meeting next week.
Dr. Bedden wouldn't say who or how many people are involved, but he said Monday that the recommendations represent the most changes he has requested at once since coming to Richmond County in August 2007.
"I've been here a year and a half now. I've seen some of these people's performance directly," he said.
People are expected to show results, he said.
From the beginning of his tenure as superintendent, Dr. Bedden spoke of placing personnel in the "right seat on the bus." Next week's actions are his attempt to do that.
In the Feb. 25 meeting, he will recommend several administrative changes, including some at the school level, to ensure that everyone is in a position that provides the opportunity to be successful.
Dr. Bedden said he has spoken with most, but not all, of those potentially involved. He said he doesn't want anyone to learn of the recommendations through the news media.
He would have made the recommendations at tonight's board meeting, but he will be out of town at a national superintendents' conference. He said he prefers to be in town when recommending such significant changes.
Dr. Bedden can only recommend that the changes be made. The school board will make the final decision.
