Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation met with District Attorney Ashley Wright on Monday to discuss the investigation into the death of Justin Elmore. According to a statement Tuesday, the GBI discussed witness statements, presented physical evidence and reviewed scene documents.
Final results from testing of some video evidence have not been received. Investigators are awaiting completion of further enhancement of the digital video evidence, which was outsourced, according to the GBI statement.
The evidence is needed to accurately depict the sequence of events and perspective at the time of the shooting, the statement said.
Mr. Elmore, 23, was fatally shot by police in December when he tried to run over deputies at the Cherry Tree Crossing public housing complex, authorities say. Police said they responded to a tip that Mr. Elmore had drugs and weapons in his vehicle.
