Warm weather to stay till weekend

Foggy conditions that were seen Tuesday are expected again through about 11 a.m. today, said Tim Hawks, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in West Columbia, S.C.

Warmer weather, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s, also should stick around at least until Friday, but weather officials say conditions should be closer to normal come Christmas.

Mr. Hawks said that normal highs for Augusta this time of year are in the mid-50s while lows are typically in the 30s.

"We're on the warm side of a front, so we're getting warmer winds from the South," he said.

He said that by the weekend, temperatures should draw within about five degrees of normal, and by Christmas Eve the weather will be back to normal.

"It will feel more like Christmas by that time," he said.
