Sex offender jailed for not registering move
A convicted sex offender who crossed state lines without contacting law enforcement as required was sentenced Monday to 27 months in prison.
U.S. District Judge J. Randal Hall imposed the maximum sentence possible on Terry Lee Robinson, 36, who was arrested in Burke County in December 2007.
Mr. Robinson is required to register as a sex offender because of a 1998 child molestation conviction in Florida. The requirement extended to Georgia when he moved north in September 2007, but did not register.
Judge Hall noted that Mr. Robinson served time in Florida for not registering as a sex offender, and seven months after his release from prison he moved to Georgia and again did not register.

Savannah River Site employees donated an estimated 11,836 toys and $15,900 during the site's 18th annual Toys for Tots Drive.

About 500 Christmas stockings also were filled for area children.
