Rants and Raves

Comments from our readers.

OK, SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE. Teach your kids to swim. Teach them or be in the water with them at all times.

A HUGE RANT TO AT&T and their contractors who delivered annual directories to Lakemont by throwing them on the ground at the mailboxes in our neighborhood, 20 minutes before a drenching storm.

MCCAIN MET THE Dalai Lama; Obama met the president of France. So what? I once met Jimmy Carter. Just meeting somebody doesn't mean he'll make a good president.

TO THE PERSON ranting about slow elderly drivers in the left lane: I'll say what they wouldn't, but anyone driving below the speed limit in the left lane should not be allowed to have a driver's license. Not only is it rude, but unsafe.

GEORGE WASHINGTON said, "Steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world." Look at history and see that we walked into every single big war we've been in, except WWII when we were attacked, because of some stupid "permanent alliance." Now Obama, in Europe, says he plans to "unite" the U.S. with various foreign governments. The man's either a sinister threat to our freedom or the biggest nitwit on record. And he ain't a nitwit.

A RANT TO THE MCG parking appeals committee. There was nothing wrong with me parking in the visitor's deck on my day off. I took some hours off my other job only for you to wait seven days to e-mail me stating the money would be withdrawn from my check. I know budget is low, but it's very unnecessary. I'm not going to park at Kroger when I'm visiting.

RANT TO THE GUY who hit my car on the corner of Jones and 13th streets on July 12 and fled the scene. I guess as you know by now, I remembered your tag number.

IN RESPONSE TO THE rant about the personnel at the Augusta airport: These people are not Delta employees. They are employees of Atlantic Southeast Airlines. Nothing upsets me more than reading undeserving bad publicity for the company I am very proud of, Delta Airlines. I must admit that I have noticed the Delta logo still remains at the airport even though Delta's affiliation with Atlantic Southeast Airlines does not.
