Woman's tight finances force sacrifices

A 40-year-old Augusta woman's income isn't enough to cover the family's expenses.

Each month, she has to decide which bills to pay and which medicine not to pay for, she said.

The lack of money also means disappointing her children.

"I have three children and I know I disappoint them because I never have enough money to do things with them," she said.

"If you can please help me, I would really be appreciative."

For 77 years, The Augusta Chronicle 's Empty Stocking Fund has helped families like this one. Last year, the charity raised a record-breaking $122,000, which went to more than 1,250 families.
