Fix It: Exit 199

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? The exit ramp leading from westbound Exit 199 Interstate 20 is in very poor condition. Several potholes and bumps line the exit ramp, which leads to Washington Road. This is certainly not a positive example for an entrance to Augusta - especially for out-of-state drivers making their way to the City of Augusta for the first time.

WHO'S RESPONSIBLE? The Georgia Department of Transportation is responsible for improvement and resurfacing this and other exit ramps along I-20.

WHAT'S BEING DONE? "Final plans (for resurfacing the ramp) have been submitted for contracts to be reviewed in October. If contracts are accepted, work could start-up as soon as November or December," said Cissy McNure, a state DOT spokeswoman.
