Teen sought in case of child molestation

 

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is looking for a Hephzibah teenager in connection with a child molestation/pornography case.

Tre Rayburne Lacey, 17, of Sego Road, is accused of participating in several sex acts with a 13-year-old girl between June and this month, according to sheriff's Investigator Bonnie Kalbskopf. He also took nude photographs of the girl, police said. He was to have turned himself in to authorities Monday but did not, police said.

Anyone with information on Mr. Lacey's whereabouts is asked to call the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at (706) 821-1080.

Man is shot outside store

An Augusta man was shot Monday morning as he got out of his vehicle at the Community Grocery Store at 940 13th Ave.

Juan Xavier Tanksley, 39, of the 1500 block of Wrightsboro Road, was shot in the back and the left ankle, Investigator Tess Alexander-Brunson said.

Mr. Tanksley and William Savalas Davis, 27, of Augusta, had been involved in an ongoing argument, according to Richmond County Investigator Tom Johnson.

Mr. Davis is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Mr. Tanksley was taken to the Medical College of Georgia, where he was in serious condition, sheriff's Sgt. Richard Roundtree said. Investigator Johnson said Mr. Tanksley was "conscious and talking" before being taken away. Mr. Davis was apprehended on Eighth Street, Investigator Alexander-Brunson said.

Masked man pulls gun in afternoon robbery

A man wearing a homemade ski mask and armed with a handgun robbed the Dollar General store at 2525 Washington Road on Monday, authorities said.

The robber, who walked into the store at about 2:15 p.m., is described as a slim man wearing a blue denim shirt and khaki shorts.

He was last seen running toward the rear of The Big Tree shopping plaza, Richmond County sheriff's Investigator Calvin Chew said.

Police seek driver of truck in hit-and-run

Police are seeking the driver of a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup in a hit-and-run accident Monday afternoon in south Augusta that sent four people to a hospital.

The pickup rear-ended a 2000 Chevy Blazer at about 3:35 p.m. Both vehicles were traveling north on Mike Padgett Highway, said Richmond County sheriff's Deputy Jason Singletary.

The Blazer was attempting a left turn into the Country Place subdivision, he said. The pickup forced the Blazer into the southbound lanes, causing it to strike a van driven by Johnny Lee Bush of Augusta.

Estella Bailey, Esther Kitchens, Kimberly Kitchens and a juvenile girl were treated at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, police said. Mr. Bush was not injured. Ms. Bailey was driving the Blazer; the Kitchenses and the juvenile were in the van.

Charges are pending against the Dodge Ram driver, who fled the scene, Deputy Singletary said.

Esther and Kimberly Kitchens were in fair condition, an MCG spokeswoman said Monday evening. Ms. Bailey was not listed as a patient at the hospital.

20-year-old wanted in man's shooting

Aiken authorities are looking for a 20-year-old man accused of shooting another man twice last week.

Dwayne Dunbar, of the 200 block of Stone Drive in Aiken, is wanted on a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill.

According to a report from the Aiken Department of Public Safety, police were called to a home in the 500 block of Polo Drive Southeast at about 7:30 p.m. Friday to find 21-year-old Michael Harley sitting in a chair in front of the home with gunshots to his upper right chest and right thigh.

Authorities say Mr. Harley was released from Medical College of Georgia Hospital on Saturday. They have no motive for the attack, Detective Marty Sawyer said.

Man is accused of soliciting 'girl' online

A 39-year-old Aiken man was arrested Friday on charges that he solicited sex from a teenage girl while online, authorities said.

He was actually talking to a police officer posing as the underage child.

James Marion Boozer III, of the 200 block of Longleaf Court, was arrested by Aiken sheriff's investigators when he showed up at a predetermined location to have sex with the "girl," according to the South Carolina attorney general's office.

Mr. Boozer was charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

According to arrest warrants, Mr. Boozer began chatting online with the "girl" March 16 and arranged to meet her for sex. Investigators searched his home after his arrest and seized his computer.

Mr. Boozer was released Sunday from the Aiken County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.

Sex offenders did not register, police say

Aiken authorities are looking for three sex offenders who haven't registered annually as required by law:

- Jerry Johnson Sr., 66, of the 400 block of Seastrunk Street in Graniteville

- Bobby A. Morrison, 52, of the 200 block of Pine Log Road in Beech Island

- Calvin B. Tyler, 26, of the 1600 block of Colleton Avenue in Aiken.

Girl says three people beat her, stole money

A 15-year-old girl was beaten by three people while walking at Bransford and Wheeler roads Sunday night, a Richmond County sheriff's report said.

The girl said the attackers began to hit her and she fell to the ground, according to the report.

They also took $3 that fell from her pocket.
