Rants and Raves

I BELIEVE IN the James Brown Festival, and I hope it materializes. What I can't believe is that we are planning to give a contribution from the festival to the Heritage Crest Foundation. Did you know that this is Champ Walker's creation and foundation? How dumb can the citizens of Augusta be to let the Walkers continue to take money from legitimate festivals to line their pockets?

I FEEL SORRY for the bus driver who was arrested and charged for stopping the fight between the two kids on the bus. Just because he tried to put the kid in his seat and stop them from fighting, he gets in trouble. No doubt the parents of the boy felt the child was wronged somehow and the driver was the one to blame. These days, the kids are the ones that are getting more violent, and the driver probably felt empowered to stop them. Most young adults these days have absolutely no respect for their elders and they get away with anything.

AS A GRANDMOTHER, I would like to rant about the lack of recess in the public schools. Boys especially need to get rid of pent-up energy during the day in order to do better work. And when I was growing up, it was very bad English to say, "I'm done." It is still very bad English, as only cooked food is "done."

A BIG RAVE TO RICHMOND County sheriff's Investigator (Tess) Alexander-Brunson. She is very nice and very professional. More people need to be like her, especially when dealing with the public.

OUR PRESIDENT IS ASLEEP. We don't know what kind of deal he made with Vicente Fox. I really resent it. These people are illegal and should go home.

THIS IS A THANK YOU to the staff and administration of the Nancy Carson Library. Everyone who works there is very helpful and courteous. A big thank you goes out to them for the wonderful service they provide to our community.

WHY ARE SIGNS allowed to litter our roadways, intersections, utility poles and neighborhood entrances? These political, health care, TV dish, crown molding, "we buy houses," real estate signs are against county sign and litter ordinances.
