The Rev. Al Sharpton will speak at a 225th anniversary celebration of Augusta’s historic Springfield Baptist Church.
Limited seating will be available for the event at 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at the church, 114 12th St.
Springfield Baptist, founded in 1787, is believed to be the nation’s oldest continuously meeting black church.
Sharpton, a Baptist minister, is founder and president of the nonprofit civil rights organization, National Action Network.
