The Augusta alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in partnership with the Women’s Civic Club will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. April 22 at the Lucy Craft Laney Museum, 1116 Phillips Street
Senate District 22 candidates include Elmyria Chivers, Corey Johnson, and Harold Jones II are expected to participate.
Riverwalk Toastmasters Public Speaking and Leadership club meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the University Hospital Education Wing, Third Floor, Room 3.

Vendors are needed for the third annual GoodBoats for Goodwill Dragon Boat Festival, which will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 at Lake Olmstead Park.

The Augusta Training Shop will hold Derby Day 2014 May 3 at the Legends Club.
The annual Kentucky Derby-themed fundraiser will feature Southern cuisine, an open bar, outdoor games and a live stream of the Kentucky Derby.
The event will also feature live entertainment, a silent auction, a ladies’ hat contest and a men’s fashion contest.
Tickets to the event are $75 in advance and $90 at the door, and include food and beverages.

Phinizy Swamp is holding its annual Phinizy Swamp Nature Photo Contest through April 30.
Entries must be taken at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park and be received no later than 5 p.m. April 30.
Entry fee is $5 per photo entered.
Photos will be judged on creativity, originality and skill level.
Photo finalists will be notified by May 16.
Winners will be chosen in the following categories: scenic, wildlife, People’s Choice. The winners will be announced at a reception June 7.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council is accepting nominations for awards to be given at its Annual Awards and Meeting, which will be held at Sacred Heart Cultural Center on June 19.
Awards will be given for individual artist, arts professional, arts volunteer, media, corporate sponsor and president’s award. (Nominations are not being accepted for the president’s award. This award winner is chosen by the Arts Council’s president.)
Nominating period will close at midnight April 26.
