Students win national award
Georgia Regents University business students Erica Playford, Austin Hixenbaugh, LeRoy Ramsey and Yat Wang Ying received awards of excellence during the 2013 Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference, which was held June 25 in Anaheim, Calif.
The Augusta Branch of the NAACP was awarded the Lucille Black Third Place Award during the NAACP National Convention, held July 13-18. The award recognizes NAACP branches that earned the highest membership production totals for 2012 for units with 250-499 members.
Linda Griffith’s Frozen Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches recently won a blue ribbon at Just A Pinch Recipes, a social network for home cooks.
The award is the fourth blue ribbon for Griffith, who is one of 442 Augusta residents who share recipes on the site.
