Aiken woman will 'Say Yes to the Dress' on TV

Aiken's Brooke Beard Storey spent 12 hours trying on dresses for a film crew.

Brooke Beard Storey had to say "yes" twice before she could walk down the aisle. And Friday, Storey's dreamy adventure will be televised on TLC.

The Aiken newlywed's first "yes" was when her boyfriend, Nathan, took her to the Big Mo drive-in theater a year ago, and asked her to step out of the car. When she did, the words "Brooke, will you marry me?" appeared on the big screen.

"He got on his knees and spilled his heart out, and everybody was honking their horn," Storey said. "It was like I was in a dream."

When they began planning their big day, Nathan and Brooke applied to be on TLC's Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta show.

"It was a very long application process. They asked everything under the sun," she said.

A few weeks later, Storey received a phone call for an interview and was accepted to be on the show. In October, she went with her mom, brother and fiancé's three sisters to Bridals by Lori in Atlanta for the show's first filming.

"It was my first time to ever try on a wedding gown at all, so it was a big deal," Storey said.

What followed was 12 hours of filming, where the bride-to-be had to model every dress she tried on in front of her family and the television camera.

"I'm very excited for my husband to see the show because he's the only one who didn't get to see all the dresses I tried on," she said.

Although the filming made the dress selection process longer than usual, it had its perks.

The TV crew filmed her wedding and reception, and the show provided a professional artist to sing at the wedding.

"I worried, would I act normal," Storey said. "But you forget they're there. So it made it so much more special and an unforgettable experience."

Storey said her family will have a big get-together tonight to watch the show, which is the season premiere of the second year. It is scheduled to air at 9:30 and 11:30 p.m.

"I'm nervous about what they're going to show, because they filmed everything," Storey admitted. "But we had a fun group of people, so there's no telling what it's going to be like."
