Georgia State Patrol vehicle, tractor trailer collide outside Fort Gordon gate

A tractor-trailer and a Georgia State Patrol vehicle collided at 5:34 p.m. near Fort Gordon’s Gate 1 at Jimmie Dyess Parkway, according to Richmond County dispatch.

Senior Trooper J.L. Freeman was trying to stop a speeding motorcycle on Deans Bridge Road during the accident. Freeman lost control of his vehicle when following the motorcycle, which turned right on Jimmie Dyess Parkway, according to a Georgia State Patrol statement.

Freeman hit a concrete median, traveled into oncoming traffic and hit the side of tractor-trailer hauling logs that was stopped at a traffic light. No injuries were reported.
