No one hurt in Evans house fire

No one was injured Wednesday in an Evans house fire that started in an upstairs room above the garage.

Firefighters responded to the blaze in the 600 block of Kimberley Place at about 2:15 p.m. after the fire was reported by a neighbor, said Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue spokesman Jeremy Wallen.

No one was inside the two-story brick home in the Wellington subdivision when the fire started, Wallen said.

The homeowner’s identity was not immediately known.

Fire damage to the two-story brick home was contained to the upstairs bonus room, but smoke spread throughout the home, Wallen said.

The cause is currently undetermined, but considered accidental, he said.
