Crash backs up traffic on Interstate 20 bridge

A North Augusta man driving too fast for wet road conditions overturned his Ford Explorer on the Interstate 20 bridge at the South Carolina line at 3:55 p.m. Sunday.

While authorities were able to reopen one lane of I-20 shortly after the wreck, traffic congestion was heavy for more than an hour, said Lance Cpl. Billy Elder of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A passenger was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital complaining of injuries, Elder said.
