Hot weekend past; hot week ahead

A record high has already been reached this week, and more warm weather is coming.

Sunday’s high temperature of 91 degrees tied the record set in 1970, according to National Weather Service records.

Above-normal temperatures are expected for the remainder of the week, with highs remaining in the upper 80s and low 90s and lows in the low to mid-60s.

For the first week of May, temperatures are expected to be higher than the average for the month in 2011, but no records are expected. The National Weather Service recorded an average high of 86.7 degrees in May 2011, nearly two degrees higher than normal for the month.

Temperatures for the remainder of the week will have to reach at least 94 degrees to tie record highs.
