Columbia County planning commissioners Thursday approved final plats that will bring 146 new residences to the county, and approved rezonings to turn two homes into offices.
Single-family home layouts for Brookhaven at Crawford Creek, Hilton at Riverwood, Blackstone on Point Comfort Road and Indian Springs on Chamblin Road received final plat approval by unanimous vote.
Commissioners also approved plans for Muir Court, a five-duplex development off Owens Road.
In addition, commissioners approved rezoning to professional from residential for two homes fronting North Belair Road, near Columbia Road. One of the homes will be converted for use as a doctor’s office, while the other will become an insurance agency.
Commissioners also allowed an applicant seeking to build a Goodyear tire store in the commercial section of Riverwood Plantation to withdraw the request. It would have required a major revision to Riverwood’s Planned Unit Development agreement, which doesn’t allow auto-related businesses.
