Public's help sought in identifying armed robbery suspects

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify two men suspected in an armed robbery Wednesday on Hummingbird Lane.

Ricardo D’Artanion Rainford, 37, was shot in the left wrist during the robbery, which shattered both of the bones in his lower arm, according to a sheriff’s incident report.

Rainford was treated at Georgia Regents Medical Center and was stable Friday, according to the report.

When Rainford arrived home Wednesday, a silver Chevrolet Impala stopped in front of his driveway, according to the report.

Rainford said the driver of the Impala initially asked for directions. Then the front-seat passenger got out and ran toward Rainford with a revolver, shouting “Give it up,” according to the report.

The driver stayed in the vehicle but also pointed a revolver at Rainford through the driver’s side window, according to the report.

Rainford tried to grab the revolver from the passenger’s hand, and two shots were fired, one of which struck Rainford, according to the report.

Anyone with information – or who can identify the men or vehicle – is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (706) 821-1080 and speak with a Violent Crimes Investigator. Callers may remain anonymous.
