Thieves scale barbed wire fence to steal equipment


Determined thieves didn’t let a barbed wire fence stop them from stealing equipment from an Augusta business this weekend,

According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report, thieves got over the barbed wire at

MCK Industrial Recycling, 1419 McCauley St., between Saturday afternoon and Monday afternoon and then pried off steel mesh covering the door. They took a generator, air compressor and cutting torches and rolled them out through a hole they cut in the fence.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
