Police say argument leads to stabbing

An argument at a boarding house Monday evening led to a stabbing that sent one resident to the hospital and the other to jail, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Calvin Chew said in a statement that the victim, Sonny Burdick, 40, got into an argument with another resident, Brannon Osgood, at their boarding house at 631 Crawford Ave. Osgood, 53, allegedly stabbed Burdick, and deputies found the victim with at least two wounds in the upper torso.

Burdick was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center and was listed in critical condition, according to Chew. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday night that she had no information on that patient.

Osgood was arrested at the scene and is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime.
