Murder suspect misses bond hearing while in hospital

Richmond County sheriff’s investigators said a murder suspect has been hospitalized.

Robert Moody, 55, did not show for a bond hearing Friday morning because he was in the hospital. His bond was set at $27,700.

Moody was jailed after he shot his 23-year-old son, Rocky Moody, in the chest with a shotgun at their home on Red Bird Road around 5:40 p.m. Monday, police said.

Police said that the father and son had a history of problems and that the father had been assaulted by his son before the shooting.

Authorities would not discuss Moody’s injuries because of privacy laws.

Sheriff’s Maj. Gene Johnson, who is in charge of the Richmond County jail, would not confirm that Moody was being treated.
