Police searching for man involved in downtown Augusta bar fight

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man in connection with a bar fight in downtown Augusta that left one person seriously injured.

About 2:15 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to 879 Broad St., where an altercation started inside Wheels bar. The fight spread into the street and involved several people, according to a news release.

Police say one man fell to the ground, lost consciousness and was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with facial injuries and a fractured skull.

The man being sought was described as white and wearing a red shirt at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (706) 821-1080.
