Emanuel County school bus driver shot to death

An Emanuel County, Ga., school bus driver was killed and a suspect has been named, authorities said.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday night, Swainsboro officers found the body of 49-year-old Robert Parrish Jr. in a vacant lot at Gumlog Road and Wrens Street, Emanuel County Coroner Walter Peebles said.

Peebles said Parrish was shot in the head “several times,” and his body was taken to Augusta on Monday morning for an autopsy. He said the death was ruled a homicide, and he is waiting for toxicology results.

A jail representative said a suspect, Jhakeem Armstrong, has not yet been arrested.
