2 more suspects named in deadly Augusta home invasion

Richmond County Sheriff’s investigators have identified the two remaining suspects in the deadly home invasion on Ridgewood Drive early Thursday.

Deandre Marquette Brown, also known as “Bogey”, and Willie Edward Hooper, also known as “Zu Zu” or “Zulu,” are being sought in connection with the slaying of Charlie Jones III and shooting of James Wright during a home invasion in the 1400 block of Ridgewood Drive, Lt. Blaise Dresser said in an e-mail.

Dresser said the three men were robbing the victims, but when Wright tried to run, a gunman opened fire. Bullets hit him in the chin and arm. He was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where Dresser said he was alert enough to speak with investigators.

Another bullet hit Jones. Police found the victim in a bed. He was also taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose said.

Deputies arrested Ronny Rashad Bonner, 20, on charges of murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, burglary and armed robbery Thursday morning.

Brown and Hooper are wanted on the same charges, Dresser said, and should be considered armed and dangerous.
