A would-be robber returned his victim’s wallet after learning only $4 was inside, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
An officer was called to the 3500 block of Byron Place around 4 p.m. Wednesday. A 49-year-old North Augusta man told the officer that he was walking along a path in the woods between Byron Place and Windsor Spring Road when he was approached by a man wielding a chrome-colored revolver.
The man told him to lie down and demanded money, according to the report. The victim told the robber he only had $4 in cash, and the robber checked his wallet.
According to the report, the robber placed the $4 back inside the victim’s wallet and tossed it back to him before taking off toward Windsor Spring Road.
The suspect was described as black, about 16 to 20 years old, wearing a lime green polo shirt and bluejeans shorts.
