A 30-year-old mother remains in jail after police said she beat her 8-year-old son Friday for misbehaving in school.

Officers were called to the home in the 1600 block of Fenwick Street around 7:30 p.m. and found the child with bruises on his back, legs and arms.

Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Carrier said Tynisha Bogan Wynn hit her son several times after he was instructed to strip naked. Police said the incident was brought on after Wynn was told her son had misbehaved during school.

Wynn was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a charge of first-degree cruelty to children.
