Suspect sought in Augusta shooting

Police are searching for Christopher Gary Smith, 24, in connection with a Saturday slaying of Doniel Hicks outside River Glen apartments.

Police are searching for a suspect in Saturday’s shooting that killed a man outside River Glen apartments in Augusta.

Richmond County Sheriff’s Investigators have identified Christopher Gary Smith, 24, of the 100 block of East Aumour Street according to an e-mail from Lt. Blaise Dresser.

Smith is wanted on charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the death of Doniel Jamal Hicks, 24.

Hicks was killed around 1 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of East Telfair Street.
