Augusta man reports AK-47 theft

A 22-year-old Augusta man told deputies he waited nearly a week to report an AK-47 theft because he didn’t know a report was necessary.

The victim told authorities the assault rifle was stolen from his 1990s model Honda while it was parked in the parking lot of Club Cream at 1511 North Leg Road on Wednesday. According to an incident report, the victim returned to his vehicle to find the back door partially left open.

The theft was reported to officers Monday.
