An Augusta woman thought she was getting an iPad 2 and a netbook computer, but she instead ended up losing $500, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report.
Portia Tanksley, of Madrid Road, said she was in the Augusta Mall parking lot shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday when a black man approached her saying he had the two items for sale.
Tanksley followed the man, who appeared to be in his early 30s, to a Chevrolet Impala with Florida license tags, paid him the money and was given a box.
Tanksley opened the box and found only a three ring binder and a 12-inch-by-12-inch piece of tile, according to the report. The unknown man already had driven away.
