Augusta woman says man took car to scrap yard without permission

A woman told deputies that she allowed a man, whose real name she did not know, to pick up her 1998 Ford Taurus from her home and take it to B&S Automotive on Broad Street for repair sometime during the last week of June.

According to a report filed with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, the woman went Tuesday to check on her car, and it was no longer there. An employee of the automotive shop said the man who delivered the car took it to the scrap yard.

A phone call to the man, known as “Big Country,” revealed the mechanic of B&S took the car to the scrap yard and sold it. The incident is under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
