Woman finds power cut, intruder in home

A Hephzibah woman awoke Thursday morning to find her power disconnected and a burglar in her home.

According to an incident report, the 34-year-old victim awoke shortly after midnight when the doorbell rang at her home on the 4400 block of Hatteras Drive. After checking to see whether anyone was outside, she returned to bed.

Minutes later, she heard the electricity pop off and then discovered an unknown man with dreadlocks inside her home, police said. The intruder fled.

Officers discovered the power meter outside the home had been removed and the phone and cable lines had been cut. Authorities think the intruder entered through an unlocked back door.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
