Pupil is suspended after ruckus on bus

A W.S. Hornsby K-8 School pupil was suspended after causing a disruption on a school bus and struggling with a school safety officer, according to Richmond County tribunal findings made public Monday.


The pupil , identified as J.S., was found guilty of verbally abusing a school employee and physically assaulting a school employee, but not guilty of physical violence against a school employee.

On Sept. 30, the pupil was disruptive on the bus, causing the driver to turn the bus around and go back to the school. While getting off the bus, J.S. bumped the assistant principal's shoulder and cursed. The pupil struggled with the school safety officer.

J.S. was suspended for the rest of the school year, with the option to attend the Tubman Education Center Alternative Program.
