Day of memories for Cross Creek High School graduates

Making memories

High school has been a place for memories, Cross Creek salutatorian Isaac Generette
told the graduating class Sunday afternoon during the ceremony at James Brown Arena.

Sierra Bednarski and Kishma Blount, two of the 249 graduates waiting in line before the ceremony, said they were nervous about crossing the stage.

However, both said they are confident about their next steps in life.

Bednarski plans to major in biology at Augusta State University to become a nurse anesthetist. Blount will study radiology at Augusta Technical College.

Mostly, they said, they were excited Sunday.

Leaving friends and favorite teachers tempered the atmosphere only slightly.

“I have a mix of emotions,” Bednarski said. “I’m sad because I’m leaving all of my friends, but I’m happy because I don’t have to come back to high school.”

Graduate Ryan Addison will study to become an electrician. He hopes to get a job at Plant Vogtle one day.

As a member of the JROTC, the drill team, and the Cross Creek concert band, he’s made many friends and many more memories. But now only one memory was on his mind -- graduation.

“That stands out the most out of all of them,” he said.
