Augusta woman fatally shot at Club 5150 on Deans Bridge Road

Second female patron injured

A 27-year-old Augusta woman is dead and another woman was injured after a shooting at a Deans Bridge Road club early Thursday.

According to a news release, shots were fired shortly before 2 a.m. at Club 5150, located at 2864 Deans Bridge Road.

Officers found Ashley Dandrea Brown, of the 3300 block of Idlewild Drive, inside the doorway to the club with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m.

Authorities learned a fight broke out inside the club and shots were fired from the parking lot as patrons were being escorted out. Investigators do not think Brown was an intended victim in the shooting.

Another victim, Sherame Sade McGahee, 25, of the 1500 block of Wylds Road, had a cut on her leg. Authorities think McGahee was injured during the scramble after the gunfire.

This is Richmond County’s 16th homicide of the year.

The location has a history of violence.

In October, officers were called to the location, a teen night club named Club Night Life at the time, when dozens of shots were fired after a fight. Six people were injured.

The club was later shut down for inadequate security, Sgt. Richard Elim said.

Club 5150 opened about three months ago and was the first business at the location since Club Night Life. Elim said Club 5150 was properly licensed but had no police security.

“They had club security but it was inadequate,” he said.

The club will face the Augusta Commission and risks losing its beer and liquor license.
