Property worth $4,000 stolen from a store

A thief broke into Hartley's Uniform Shop and stole nearly $4,000 worth of merchandise Wednesday night, according to a report from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Donald Shapiro told officers that when he arrived at his shop at 1010 Druid Park Ave. at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, he found the front door had been pried open and a storage room door had been kicked in.

Shapiro said he was missing $3,000 worth of collectible rare coins, 10 pairs of Dansco Shoes valued at $600, 10 pairs of Nurse Mate Shoes valued at $350, and five Nurse Mate watches valued at $34.95, according to the report.

Deputies found a crow bar on the floor of the shop's office, but it was determined to be too rusted to be used for fingerprints, according to the report.
