Although it's mid-summer, work on the Aiken County Recreation Center pool continues.
Eddins Electrical was awarded a contract for $19,469 to repair the concrete decking and tile work.
The council approved using $25,000 from contingency funds to pay for the project after the community rallied at county council meetings for months during the spring. County Administrator Clay Killian was authorized to award the bid.
Eddins was one of three bids, with second lowest for $37,500.
If the pool opens in the next few weeks, it would close at the start of school on Aug. 16.
