The Augusta National announced this afternoon that it will close the gates for today’s practice round and not reopen the rest of the day.

However, the club announced,  purchasers of Monday Practice Round tickets will be sent refunds in May, and will be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase 2015 Practice Rounds tickets.  Further information will be included with the refund.

“We are disappointed that our patrons could not enjoy today’s practice round, however safety must be our first concern.  We look forward to seeing these Patrons next year,” said Billy Payne, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament.

The last time gates did not open due to bad weather during a scheduled day was Monday, April 7, 2003.

Can't imagine how much money

Can't imagine how much money they lose by clearing the club for weather for every half hour the shops are closed. Bet it's mind-boggling.

So what now,

Do they just skip a day of practice? If it is still bad tomorrow and they have to close, will they skip all practice? Wondering what it takes to extend the tournament to the next week.

So this is interesting.

So this is interesting. Issuing refunds means the original purchaser will get a check in the mail from the course in May. Many of those original purchasers scalped their tickets and got hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for them. So now they get their original money back and all that money they got when they scalped them. What a deal!

If thou lives by the scalper,

If thou lives by the scalper, so shall thou die by them.
That's the chance you take, as unfortunate as it is for those only here for the day. At least the National is helping out the original purchasers. As far as lost revenue in the Pro shops...no worries, they will still rake in millions. Plus they had yesterday's revenue that they don't usually get on that Sunday.

Man, VERY classy! This just

Man, VERY classy! This just exemplifies how the Augusta National is NOT all about the money for themselves. You "haters" of the ANGC have just been shown how invalid your rants are.
Well done, gentlemen..well done!
