Arts council winners announced

The Greater Augusta Arts Council has announced the recipients of its 2010 Arts Recognition awards. The annual awards recognize outstanding contribution to the fine and performing arts in the Augusta area.

Musician James Nord was named arts professional of the year, Beatle man Ed Turner received the award for individual artist of the year, and WFXG-TV was the recipient of the media award.

Local design and marketing firm Wierhouse won the sponsor award and Rich Borgatti won the volunteer award.

The awards will presented at the Greater Augusta Arts Council's annual meeting and awards party at 6:30 p.m. on June 10. The event will feature music by Pat Blanchard and dinner. Tickets are $20. Learn more at http://augustaarts.com/
