NOTE: The time for Action Ministries’ annual Action Dash 5K was incorrect in Saturday’s edition of The Augusta Chronicle. Registration for today’s race is from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., and the 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. The Chronicle regrets the error.

Action Ministries' annual Action Dash 5K is set for Monday. Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver was made an honorary superhero for the event in 2012.


WHAT: A superhero-themed 5K run/walk in five cities is set for Labor Day.

WHEN: 6:30-7:30 a.m. race packet pickup and on-site registration; 8:30 a.m. 5K start; 8:45 a.m. 1-mile fun run start; 9:30 a.m. awards ceremony Monday

WHERE: Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave.

THE EVENT: Action Dash was created by Action Ministries to raise awareness of poverty in Georgia. The organization works in Augusta, Atlanta, Athens, Gainesville and Rome to provide hunger relief, housing and education.

THE RUN: Awards will be given for the best action hero costume, but costumes are not required for the race.

COST: The 5K is $30 on race day; the fun run is $20. Register at actiondash.org.
