WHAT: St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church breaks ground on an $11 million, 36,000-square-foot worship space in Columbia County.

WHEN: 6 p.m. Monday

WHERE: 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown

THE SERVICE: Bishop Gregory J. Hartmayer of the Diocese of Savannah will officiate. The groundbreaking will be followed by Mass at 6:30 p.m. and a reception.

THE CHURCH: The new sanctuary will seat 1,200 people and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2014.
